Summary:

Plans, directs, manages, controls, staffs and supervises the activities of the Retail Branches within their region by setting clear and concise sales & service expectations and communicating desired behaviors necessary to sell bank products & services. Instills “Sales Culture" in the bank; designs, promotes and monitors sales incentive and recognition programs. Provides guidance and assistance to branches within regional areas and ensures the achievement of the bank's deposit and consumer loan goals.

Responsibilities

Management and Supervision of Regional Branches

  • Management responsibility includes assigning and controlling work, hiring, coaching & developing staff, annual reviews and salary/bonus recommendations of all Branches and employees within the Region.
  • Regularly visits assigned branches and evaluates needs as they relate to retail sales and customer service.
  • Participates in and monitors Branch Manager customer calls.
  • Controls and reduces, when possible, operating expenses.
  • Matches staff expense and staffing levels to customer needs.

Sales Management and Development of Retail Sales Products and Programs:

  • Work closely with the Area Market Exec. to set clear and concise sales & service expectations within Region.
  • Provides input on the development of training materials and coordinates product, service and sales training programs for Retail Managers and other Sales/Service personnel to instill "sales culture.”
  • Oversees the roll out of new deposit and consumer loan products and services.
  • Reviews and analyzes branch retail sales performance and trends, and ensures established branch sales goals are being achieved.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of effective Deposit and Consumer Loan Sales Incentive and Recognition Award Programs.
  • Reviews, evaluates and monitors results of the Retail Sales and Consumer Loan Incentive Program.

Guidance, Assistance and Support to Operational Areas:

  • Provides guidance/assistance to branches in operational matters by:
    • Oversees the development and implementation of policies and procedures relative to operational issues such as losses, cash totals reduction, merchant processing, approval limits and other significant operational issues.
    • Resolving complex customer problems.
  • Evaluates retail branch operational needs and recommends changes, as needed.
  • Provides counsel and support to staff on operational, as well as, product/service issues 

Staffing, Training and Communication:

  • Ensures the branches are appropriately staffed and properly trained to perform their branch sales and operational duties.
  • Conducts employment interviews, as necessary, and staffs branches and departments with qualified sales and service team members.
  • Reviews and evaluates performance of direct reports and conducts counseling sessions, as necessary.
  • Resolves personnel issues
  • Ensures accurate job descriptions are established and reviewed with staff.
  • Ensures the development of employees through cross-training and developmental classes and seminars.
  • Ensures performance standards are established, communicated to staff and attained.
  • Ensures the communication of all policies and procedures, guidelines, promotional materials and incentive sales programs to appropriate employees in coordination with Human Resources and Branch Manager

Compliance/CRA:

  • In coordination with the Security & Compliance Department oversees and implements consumer compliance handling procedures.
  • Coordinates with designated officer the prompt investigation, research and response to consumer complaints.
  • Ensures the maintenance of accurate documentation of consumer complaints, resolutions of the complaints and periodically reviews and evaluates trends of complaints and makes appropriate recommendations to senior management.
  • Ensures compliance with all bank policies and procedures, laws, regulations and legislations affecting branch sales, programs and services.
  • Coordinates with Compliance in ensuring that branch related policies and procedures are kept current and updated information is disseminated to staff

Routine Decision-Making:

  • Determines branch staffing and facilities required in order to meet the bank’s strategic business objectives.
  • Provides input on products and services and supporting materials required in order to meet bank’s sales objectives.

Others Duties:

  • Participates in civic and community activities to enhance bank's visibility and image in the community.
  • Responsible for complying with the various rules, regulations, policies and ethical standards governing the financial services industry including Compliance and Bank Secrecy Act
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  •  5+ years banking experience at management and supervisory level in operations, sales, finance and consumer lending areas.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent management, interpersonal, analytical, organizational, communication (both written and verbal) and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully supervise and resolve complex issues, flexible and results-oriented with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Proven sales management abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of banking laws and regulations
  • In-depth knowledge of bank's products and services.
  • Computer literate; working knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing and other customized software.
