Summary: Assists Mortgage Loan Officer by receiving loan applications and interviewing customers to initiate the loan application and approval process. They will also counsel borrowers who do not qualify for a loan.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) licensing.
  • Provides assistance to the Loan Officer, including typing reports and forms, pipeline management, following up with borrowers for necessary documentation.
  • Assists with keying loans into the mortgage system and uploading files to MLOPS.
  • Collects necessary documentation from borrowers to complete application package.
  • Handles HELOC or Bank ARM closings in or out of the branch if needed.
  • Handles collection of delinquent loans.
  • Identifies the need for, orders and has executed change in terms agreements and various servicing of loan customers. Performs variety of clerical duties requiring knowledge of departmental procedures.
  • Uses office computers for data input and other activities, and orders credit reports.
  • Cross-markets financial institution products and services as appropriate.
  • Assists other departments on a temporary basis as needed during peak hours.
  • Attends mandatory training and classes offered by the financial institution.
  • Understand your role as defined by the three lines of defense to maintain a compliance culture that includes risk management processes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Six Months to one year of experience in an office environment
  • Successful completion of in-house training program (if applicable) or approved outside training program.
  • Good understanding of financial institution products and services
  • Good understanding of computer spreadsheet and word processing programs, i.e. Microsoft product suite, Excel, Word, etc.
  • One year of experience working as a mortgage loan assistant, loan processor or equivalent
  • General understanding of mortgage loan products (Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, Jumbo)
