Summary: 

 

This position will perform functions within the Deposit Operations Department. This position will collaborate and support team members and other departments within the company. This position has the potential to work on any projects and/or software updates involving the functions utilized with the department. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Follow established policies, procedures, and guidelines to protect both our customers and Chesapeake Bank.
  • Responsible for professional growth through training and available resources to better operate and support this role and understand how its functions impact the department, the bank, and its customers.
  • Answer phone calls, emails, and other communication to assist and help resolve problems with excellent customer service and composure.
  • Perform Start of Day and End of Day within core banking applications, to include monitoring and transferring files to the core banking applications throughout the day.
  • Perform amount entry and balancing functions of branch transactions.
  • Process and monitor check adjustments and cash items to and from the Federal Reserve.
  • Perform product maintenance, customer maintenance, and various types of data entry for customers.
  • Produce debit cards, including new card orders, expiring card orders, bulk card shipments, and other ancillary duties included.
  • Work and process non-posted demand deposit account items, including working non-sufficient funds (NSFs) and internal cash items.
  • Process ACH transactions, including incoming and outgoing files, reports, exception items, and supports other ACH payment functions as needed.
  • Review, as applicable, account-level and customer-level maintenance keyed, core banking application parameter changes, rate changes, Stop Payments and Regulation CC holds, new accounts and customer setup, new account and customer documents associated to the account and customer type.
  • Understand and apply all appropriate banking regulations, state and federal laws, and other such rules that may apply to the functions within Deposit Operations.
  • Process Federal Verification Requests from SSA/SSI as well as from local agencies.
  • Balance, reconcile, and problem solve general ledgers and accounts associated with Deposit Operations.
  • As needed, process garnishments, levies & liens.
  • Prepare and send tax files to applicable vendors, match TINs to ensure accuracy of customer information, and send Federal Withholding to the IRS.
  • Understand the role and how it helps support and directly impacts risk assessments, audits, and exams.
  • Understand your role as defined by the three lines of defense to maintain a compliance culture that includes risk management processes.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2 years of Bank Operations and ACH payment processing experience
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance while adhering to established guidelines
  • Strong team collaboration skills with a commitment to achieving shared goals
  • Adaptable and quick learner with the ability to pivot in response to changing priorities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and shift priorities with accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail
  • Solid analytical and organizational skills, including basic accounting and balancing capabilities
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with professional telephone and email etiquette
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Outlook and Excel), with the ability to quickly learn and grow proficiency over time
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and operate standard office equipment

Working Conditions:

  • General cubicle office environment
  • Department Regular Working Hours: 8:30am - 5pm
  • Late shift: 10am - 6:30pm or until night processing function is complete
  • Hours may be adjusted as needed by supervisor
