Summary:

The Merchant Services Underwriting Analyst position is a key role responsible for underwriting merchant accounts for payment processing. This role involves the comparison of incoming merchant application details to other data sources and company policies for the purpose of mitigating the risk of inaccurate or fraudulent merchant account opening. This position is ideal for a motivated, reliable team player who excels in a fast-paced work environment. Responsibilities

  • Follow and implement Corporate and Merchant Acquiring policies during new merchant underwriting reviews.
  • Conduct ongoing merchant reviews to ensure compliance with the Merchant Acquiring policies and procedures
  • Active ownership of the underwriting process, ensuring all outstanding items are corrected and completed.
  • Conduct recurring multi-point data reviews to deliver analysis on a regular basis.
  • Strong customer service focus with the capability to assist customers effectively over the phone
  • Review underwriting trends, variations, patterns to assist with identifying fraudulent and/or suspicious activity
  • Assist with preparing audit reports, including findings, analyses and resolutions
  • Translate results and communicate findings as meaningful business recommendations to Management and clients as appropriate
  • Work as support liaison between Bank and internal and external clients
  • Assist with Card Association compliance and reporting requirements
  • Assist with new relationship onboarding for enterprise level customers
  • Ability to convey industry changes to job duties to ensure alignment with current trends
  • Active team player to ensure processes are successfully effective
  • Prioritize and manage various assigned duties contributing to the success of the underwriting process
  • Foster a strong compliance culture that incorporates effective risk management processes
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Merchant Services experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential material and information in an ethical and professional manner
  • Ability to prioritize work load independently
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment
  • Self-motivated, conscientious and team oriented
  • Aptitude to learn new software programs and job functions
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
