SUMMARY:

As a key driver of the bank’s growth strategy, the Business Relationship Officer is responsible for achieving management’s marketing objectives by cultivating new business opportunities and deepening existing client relationships. This role involves designing and executing targeted outreach programs to attract commercial clients, with a strong focus on understanding market trends and customer needs. The officer actively engages with the business community, builds strategic partnerships, and promotes the bank’s full suite of financial products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively engage in client retention and business development outreach, targeting both existing
  • and prospective clients to drive growth.
  • Establish priorities and prepare sales itineraries.
  • Documents calls and prepare monthly call reports to supervisor.
  • Assists in the implementation and coordination of a company-wide business development call program.
  • Discusses client needs, problems or complaints with Director of Business Services.
  • Arrange meetings between clients or prospective clients and appropriate financial institution representatives.
  • Reviews lists, records, online searches, etc., for business development leads.
  • Represents financial institution at civic and community events to enhance brand visibility and cultivate new business relationships.
  • Assists in product and service development to ensure customer satisfaction and financial institution profitability. Recommends upgrades, elimination or future development of under- performing products and services and development or introduction of new products and services when necessary.
  • Partners with branch managers and commercial lenders to develop and execute regional business calling strategies.
  • Maintains a robust pipeline of business opportunities and tracks progress to completion, reporting regularly to leadership and at sales meetings.
  • Updates and informs region on sales ideas, strategies, and competitive trends in the market.
  • Drives acquisition of new commercial deposit accounts, treasury management clients, and loan prospects, while actively referring opportunities to other business lines.
  • Serves as the primary contact for treasury sales within the assigned market, including services such as remote deposit capture, positive pay, ACH, and wire transfers; assists clients with onboarding and implementation.
  • Understand your role as defined by the three lines of defense to maintain a compliance culture that includes risk management processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field and/or
  • Two to three years’ work experience in the banking or financial industry.
  • Sales or marketing experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of financial institution policies and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and database management skills.
  • Good communication, sales and public relations skills.
  • Good interviewing and research skills.
